Ágoras Cariocas is a project created by the historian Luiz Antônio Simas in partnership with the Common Northern Collective in an attempt to rescue the urban memory of the suburbs. Each edition of Ágoras Cariocas occupies the streets, squares, and other public spaces of the different districts of the North Zone, with open classes, conversations, and debates about popular culture, the history of the formation of the neighborhoods, and the importance of each region for the development of the city. Since the year 2014, from talk in conversation, from neighborhood to neighborhood, the Agoras has traveled the North Zone telling and listening to stories from the region. The events usually count on the participation of teachers, historians, residents, and residents of the neighborhoods, as well as local musicians and/or samba wheels.
