The Bambas de Saia project was born in 2011 when Professor Wagner Silveira started some classes at Pedra do Sal to teach friends to play some percussion instruments. The event to honor samba de raiz and to insert the female figure in samba culture has been gaining more space and is always stirring the routine of some places. To participate in the workshop, the women previously register for the event and the instruments are made available on the day if the participant does not have them, being: pandeiro, surdo, tambourine, agogô, and tantan. The workshops usually take place in the Center of Rio de Janeiro, but there is a desire to take it to the north. The Bambas de Saia shows that women can do everything, including playing percussion.
